A sharp fingernail points the way into this fleshy landscape. As shapes detach from their original meanings, areas of deep black, bright pattern and a warm gray pool compress into each other like sedimentary rock. Closer is an incantation, a call to come closer, to be inside the feeling of existing as both flesh and idea. Made with brevity through splashes, scrapes and direct line drawings, the piece never reveals one concrete image but rather hangs in that space of never quite understanding how we can be both a brain and a body. - Sarah Faux
