Iron meteorites come from exploding stars. When a star is dying, it begins to produce heavier elements. Our star, the Sun, is a young celestial body, and therefore it mostly...Iron meteorites come from exploding stars. When a star is dying, it begins to produce heavier elements. Our star, the Sun, is a young celestial body, and therefore it mostly produces hydrogen and helium — the lightest elements on the periodic table. As soon as a star starts to produce iron, it explodes and becomes a supernova.
The polished iron meteorites in Untitled, 2021, which landed in the Egyptian desert at an unknown date, are reshaped into multi-planar crystalline miniatures — simultaneously suggesting a monumentality, while the circular two-way mirror on which they rest provides reflections of their undersides, giving these objects a sense of lightness and multi-dimensionality.
铁陨石来自于恒星的爆炸。当一颗恒星演化接近末期时，会释放大质量的物质。我们的恒星，太阳，是一个年轻的天体，所以它所释放的物质主要为氢和氦--元素周期表中质量最轻的物质。而当一颗恒星开始释放铁，这意味着它即将爆炸并成为超新星。
