An unidentifiable object emerges from a ball of hair, to then so gratuitously fall out of the frame: a nod to the nonchalant nature of Haiyang’s bizarre scenarios. In Skins, Haiyang masterfully plays on the viewers’ natural instinct to feel both extraneous and yet connected to the narrative, bound to recognize part of their human experience reflected in the eye of these biomorphic creatures.
