"In the work ‘Time Escapes Me’, I consider my own fear and anxieties that surfaced throughout my pregnancy, feelings that are hard to quantify. It is a time of hope, deep joy and also mourning for the life you have had up until that point.
This dramatic change that can create joyous profound moments as well as deeply emotional and painful experiences can be incredibly hard to express especially within a context that often puts motherhood away from the spotlight. It was cathartic to create a work that expressly addressed this moment in my life. To engage with these topics within the work is very exciting for me and opens up avenues with the relationship with nature and our innate need to spend time within it." - Kemi Onabulé
