In urban cities, asphalt is used on roads to absorb the noise and weight from cars and lorries. However, asphalt cannot fulfil its function infinitely and once it reached its maximum capacity, it crumbles and breaks off into pieces of different shapes and sizes. The asphalt pieces in “Absorber” were collected from various sites in Hong Kong over a two month period (October-November 2017) and left unaltered - apart from using glitter to enhance their natural quality - before being incorporated into the sculpture. As a result this gives them precious stone and fossil like appearance.

Absorber #2 is a site-specific sculptural installation for "The Preservationists", curated by Ingrid Pui Yee Chu for Duddell’s, Hong Kong, 25 Nov 2017 - 11 Mar 2018.
