Douglas Rieger 道格拉斯·莱杰

"I look for repressed personality types in objects. The weathered, the repaired, the restored, the salvaged, the fresh, the applied, the new, the formed, the abandoned, the found, anything that calls to the effect placed on an object indicating who is using has used who made for what when how. How the intentions behind that object may also involve a subconscious desire within. Within the form, the color, the material, the hand of the maker leaves behind a residue that injects the makers person into the object.

My work is aggressive and languid, utilitarian and abstract. It has a perversity, and humor giving it a muddy sexuality that blends the body and the mechanism. The works are not meant to fit a logic, they are a dialogue between machine and operator." -- Douglas Rieger
