This work, evidently a landscape, shows the scenery the artist sees from the window of his toilet during the days of pollution in Beijing, city where he lives. The view is the district of Wangjing, literally “wang” (look over) and “jing” (Beijing), “look over Beijing”, while the district he lives at is funnily called Jingwang. To make this work, the artist has cut a piece of pork fat, shaped it as the landscape he wanted to represent and put it on ten layers rice paper leaving it for one night.
